Hunter was my introduction to Cardigans and above all else my heart dog. He came to our home as a pet at 15 months old and I soon found that both Hunter and I Ioved herding.

After considerable time and effort trying to not only learn herding myself but also teach a young dog, I decided Hunter deserved a real chance to compete. Kelly Orr of New Plymouth started training Hunter and after just a few months we entered Hunter in an ASCA trial. Hunter finished his started title with two qualifying scores including a 3rd place. In 5 herding trials Hunter finished three ASCA titles and an AKC started sheep title at the 2006 CWCCA Nationals in Kentucky; qualified 10 out of 12 runs; and was in the ribbons 8 of the10 qualifying runs.

Hunter is now retired and enjoying “couch” time.

Skid came to us from Amy Hill in Florida. Her dam is CH Cornerstone’s Lady Liberty HXAs ROMS who was only a few points away from finishing her Dual Championship before an injury ended her competitive herding career. Her sire is CH Paradiddle’s Token of Love.

Skid has lived up to all my expectations during her show and herding career. After being retired in 2009 from the conformation ring, I was asked to bring her out as a “filler” to help build a major at the Boise Cluster shows. She earned two 4 point majors; two winners bitch and a best of opposite sex to finish her conformation championship. Skid’s herding career includes a Reserve High in Trial and two first place finishes from the intermediate sheep class at the 2009 CWCCA Nationals in Kansas; High Scoring Cardigan from the started sheep class in Washington; finished her ASCA open herding title with a score of 112 and first in class against Border Collies and Kelpies. She now only needs one more qualifying leg to finish her AKC and ASCA advanced sheep titles.

After maternity leave this past summer, Skid is back in training preparing for the 2012 herding season to begin. Skid is also pack leader and is a bit of a “hooligan”.

Gabbi is from my breeding to FIN/NO/SW CH Trenwydd’s Silver Wizard “Lucas” and Skid. She is a bit of a princess in the pack and loves to be treated accordingly.

Her show career started with a Reserve Winners Bitch from the 6-9 month old puppy class at a supported entry in Oregon and a total entry of 30+ Cardigans. She has continued to accumulate four Best of Breed wins; various BOS and Winners awards as well as two Group 4 and one Group 3 wins (Bred by Exhibitor). All with limited showing. She now needs only five points to finish her bench championship.

Gabbi also works stock showing lots of instinct, power and natural ability. She completed her first pre-trial leg despite some very ornery goats at the 2009 Cardigan Nationals. Gabbi is now living in Minnesota and co-owned with Mackenzie and Diana Mann, and Marla Gardner. You can expect to see Gabbi in the show ring during 2012 in the mid-west with Mackenzie at the other end of the lead.

I was very excited that Eric and Paula Weller in Washington gave me the opportunity to own Nikki. Her early promise earned her Winners Bitch at the 2011 CWCCA Nationals in Texas over 55+ bitches and won both the 12-15 month old puppy sweepstakes and regular classes and in May another Winners Bitch/Best of Winners/Best of Opposite for a 4 point major in So. Jordan Utah.

In August, Nikki finished her championship going WB/BOW/BOB over specials and the next day was moved up and again took BOB over specials for her first Grand Championship major points in Dixon, CA. Nikki finished her Grand Championship two months later earning 5 major point wins AND a Herding Group 2 along the way. She is now qualified for the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba Championship show in Orlando, Florida, and is half way to her bronze level Grand Championship. Needless to say both myself and co-owner Paula Weller are thrilled with her show successes.

Nikki has had limited opportunity to work stock but she is showing keen interest and natural ability. She will begin to work stock and continue her show career following a break in 2012 for puppies. She was sired by AM/CAN CH C-Myste Baledwr Pursuit of Happiness, HIAs CD RN CGC TT x Wellshire Lady Luck.

Rhoswen In Texas After Dark

This youngster is from my early summer 2011 “Texas” litter out of Skid and CH Coedwig’s Malachite RN HSAs. From the very start Elle showed very strong maternal instincts by looking after the other puppies. She is extremely intelligent and observant about life around her. She is wise beyond her age and just seems able to figure out almost anything without being told. Elle is my constant shadow and her job right now is being my caretaker and constant companion.

I don’t know what Elle’s future holds for her but I do know that she is a bright star in the pack.

Rhoswen Rumor Has It In Blue

Rumor is from my 2011 “Rock and Roll” litter sired by CH Coedwig’s Eye of the Storm” and my own Gabbi. She takes after her mother’s English side of the pedigree and has bone and substance to spare, beautiful head and glamour coat to boot. Rumor is still young and needs time to mature before she makes her ring debut. But she is showing loads of promise as you can see.
